Southern Cross Soloists have been supporting Australian music since 1995 and began commissioning works in 1997.
The ensemble has recorded an all-Australian CD, simply called ‘Australia’. featuring the music of Gordon Kerry, Paul Stanhope, Richard Mills, Steven Stanfield, Dulcie Holland, Mary Mageau, Alison Bauld, Roy Agnew and Vincent Plush, which was released in November 2004.
The first commissioned work for the ensemble was written by Wilfred Lehmann to the poems of Oodgeroo of the tribe Noonuccal.
