The award-winning Bangalow Music Festival has been the most spectacular development of the Southern Cross Soloists in recent years. In the last three years, the Festival has grown to be regarded as one of the country’s finest music festivals.

In 2004 the most well-known Australian composer Peter Sculthorpe along with Gerard Brophy and Brett Dean participated.

Legendary Australian composer Peter Sculthorpe described the festival as, “the most exciting festival, outside a capital city, that I have ever attended”.

What people say about the Bangalow
Music Festival
“The Festival also provides a unique opportunity to listen to the musicians talk about their music. We particularly enjoy this interaction between the artists and the audience. You get such an insight and understanding of what the artists are aiming to do and how the composers, musicians and singers interpret their music. All of that having been said, Bangalow is a beautiful venue to spend a relaxing weekend away from it all, immersed in beautiful music.”

“The Bangalow Festival is an opportunity to spend a weekend listening not only to the beautiful music played by very talented artists, but also to listen to different music which may be outside that which we would ordinarily buy or go to or listen to.”

“We continue to attend because we have established some great friendships out of the weekend. It’s a chance also to mix with the musicians in an informal environment. At the end of the weekend we really feel like we have been a part of something special.”

“We love the beautiful and friendly town of Bangalow, and the weather at that time of year is wonderful. We love the warm and cosy ambience of the A&I Hall, the fantastic music and the camaraderie among the players and guest artists, who are always first rate! And we feel close to the players, not only physically, but emotionally as well. As you can see, we love the Bangalow Music Festival and are telling all our friends about it!”
