Justice Susan Kiefel (Chair)
The Honourable Justice Susan Kiefel is a judge of the Federal Court of Australia, based in Brisbane. Prior to her appointment she was a Judge of the Supreme Court of Queensland and spent many years as a barrister and Queens Counsel. She holds a Masters degree from the University of Cambridge, with a prize in comparative law.

In addition to chairing the Advisory Board for the Southern Cross Soloists, she is currently Chair of the Advisory Board for the Key Centre for Ethics, Law & Governance, President of the Australian Federal Police Disciplinary Tribunal and a member of the Australian Law Reform Commission.

At the forefront of her interests are music, especially classical music, and literature. She has organised a number of concerts by the Soloists in the foyer of the Commonwealth Law Courts Building in Brisbane.

Gavin Rebetzke is a partner in the Brisbane law firm Roberts & Kane. He has a general practice with emphasis on administrative and health law. He was born in Cairns and grew up in Townsville before moving to Brisbane for the second year of his university education. He is a graduate of the University of Queensland and holds the degrees of Bachelor of Arts and Law. His interests include music and fishing, and he plays clarinet in Brisbane Sinfonia.

Stephen Nicholls’ working life began at the Commonwealth Bank in Melbourne before administrative training during his Army National Service. Roles within banking in Sydney and London preceded his move to the Gold Coast to join the Westpac Group. A significant move into change management saw him became one of the first AGC Managers to be offered a senior role within the core Banking Group. A two-year role in Papua New Guinea as Sales Manager was a career highlight. Stephen has been the Australian Business Manager for Resource Consulting Services for the past three years. Since 1992 he has been a Director of the Gold Coast’s All Saints Anglican School. He has also been a Director of Banklink PNG which developed the major EFTPOS system in that country. Stephen and his wife Bernadette now own the Major Player Enterprises Business incorporating the Major Player Music School within Green Brothers in Rockhampton. Other activities within this entity include Business Management, Investment, Real Estate Management and Development and Music Education.

Judge Helen O'Sullivan was appointed to the District Court in 1991. She holds Commerce, Jurisprudence and Law degrees and is currently a part-time PhD candidate at Griffith University, and an occasional Visiting Fellow at Cambridge University. During her working life she has been an accountant, academic, solicitor, barrister, and volunteer at community legal centres. As a Judge she has been involved with law reform, especially in the areas of women and criminal law, and child sexual assault. Her interests include classical music, AFL football, reading biographies, walks along the beach, visiting overseas art galleries and Aboriginal art.

Cliff Fletcher is an experienced manager with over 32 years of experience in Information Technology, Insurance and Retail Financial Services. He is a Member of the Australian Computer Society, and is currently a Senior Consultant with Dialog Pty Ltd. In addition to a busy business schedule, Cliff has for many years, been committed to leadership and service roles in a wide range of private and business related organisations and committees. He has been actively involved as a leader and executive member of his church; Brisbane’s Volunteer Marine Rescue; school committees; and has served as a Trustee (including periods as the Chair) of a number of superannuation funds. He is currently chair of the Southern Cross Soloists Subscribers’ Committee which provides valuable volunteer support to the organisation.

Tony Beal B Com, FCPA, FAIM, ANZIIF(Fellow) has over 40 years experience in financial services. He began his career in life insurance holding senior roles with National Mutual in human resources, marketing, corporate planning and general management. He spent several years as chief executive of a public superannuation fund before joining Metropolitan Permanent Building Society with management responsibility for all its branches, lending and marketing functions. For the last 15 years he has been principal of his own financial planning business. He is a past President of the Financial Planning Association of Australia and served for many years as a director of National Custodian Ltd, a specialist trustee company set up by the building society industry. He is currently Chairman of First Five Minutes Pty Ltd, an Australia-wide company specialising in emergency response training, and Bastion Superannuation Solutions Pty Ltd, a specialist service provider to self-managed superannuation funds. Tony is a Certified Financial Planner and the principal of Barbacan Benefits Pty Ltd which holds an Australian Financial Services Licence. He is the company's Responsible Officer for the purposes of that licence.
