Clarinettist Ashley Smith is a laureate of several of the Australian classical music industry’s most prestigious prizes, including the 2015 APRA Performance of the Year, the Music Council of Australia Freedman Fellowship, an ABC Symphony Australia Young Performer Award and a Churchill Fellowship.
Ashley has performed throughout Australia, the USA and Asia including performances with Bang on a Can, the Chamber Music Society of the Lincoln Centre, Chamber Music Northwest, the Kennedy Centre, the Beijing Modern Music Festival and several major Australian orchestras.
Ashley is Assistant Professor and Head of Winds and Contemporary Performance at the University of Western Australia.
A graduate of Yale University, the University of Western Australia and Fellow of the Australian National Academy of Music. Ashley is a Buffet- Crampon Artist, endorsed by the makers of fine wind instruments.
