Southern Cross Soloists’ Bangalow Music Festival has proven to be a valuable launchpad for many of today’s most successful young classical music artists, including stars such as pianist Jayson Gillham and soprano Alexandra Flood. This year, the Festival Prelude will become a dedicated concert featuring outstanding young and talented emerging artists from the Northern NSW and Gold Coast regions, performing alongside festival headline artists.
Southern Cross Soloists has an exceptional track record for spotting great talent and bringing a steady stream of remarkable musicians to public attention through their Bangalow Music Festival. Together with support from the Australian Decorative & Fine Arts Society Byron Bay, the 2019 concert promises to be an annual highlight that offers outstanding opportunities to the amazing talent that continuously flourishes in this beautiful pocket of Australia and ensures the ongoing legacy of the festival to the people of the region.
This year’s concert will feature ADFAS award winner, Jemima Drews (flute), The Islay Piano Trio, Undine Duo and Sunrise String Quartet alongside the Festival artists.

Acclaimed musician, author and ABC Classic FM radio presenter, Eddie Ayres chats with 2019 festival soloists including Alan Smith, Vicky Sayles, James Wannan, Blair Harris, Lina Andonovska, Tania Frazer, Ashley Smith, Alex Miller and Adam Mikulicz, as well as the 2019 Byron Bay Fine Arts Society scholarship recipient, flute player Jemima Drews from Lismore/Goonellabah.
Join us for this intimate concert featuring sublime chamber music and fascinating conversation at the gorgeous Zentveld’s Coffee Plantation, with gourmet coffee and delicious cake in a delightful Friday morning at the Bangalow Music Festival.

The esteemed Professor Cornelius Gigglebottom OAE (Over Acting Expert) and triangle player extraordinaire, comes to Bangalow for the very first time!
Join us as we welcome Professor Gigglebottom alongside conductor Chris Dragon and the musicians of the Bangalow Music Festival to delve into what makes musical instruments tick. The professor will share his unique and eccentric insights into everything and anything including a behind the scenes look into the under-appreciated and misunderstood art of elite triangle playing.
