Marg O'Donnell AO

Marg O’Donnell AO was the Director General of three state government departments in Queensland: Aboriginal Affairs, Equity and Fair Trading, and the Arts (Director General of Arts Qld).


She has been the Chair of the Australian Festival of Chamber Music, National Breast Cancer Network of Australia, SANE Australia, Legal Aid Queensland, the Griffith University Law School Visiting Committee, and a member of the Playing Australia Committee for the Australia Council of the Arts.

Ms O’Donnell is a skilled Mediator and Conflict Resolution Manager as well as an experienced Mentor with a demonstrated history of working in the professional training & coaching industry.

​

Ms O’Donnell began her working life as a child welfare officer with the Department of Children's Services in Queensland and a social worker at Wolston Park Psychiatric Hospital.

​

Marg has held a number of senior roles including acting Director for the Human Rights Commission; she was the inaugural Legal Ombudsman in Victoria. she then returned to Queensland heading three government departments.

Ms O’Donnell is a board member of Queensland’s Interim Truth and Treaty Body 2019 -2024.

​

She was an Independent Expert reviewer for the NDIS 2022-2023.

 

Marg has a B. Soc Studies from the University of QLD;

She is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (FAICD).
