Nathaniel Andrew

Nathaniel Andrew is a highly regarded artist, musician, and educator with more than two decades of experience in the performing arts, education, and cultural leadership space.
​
He has held senior positions including Senior Manager of the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Music Office (NATSIMO) and is currently the Senior Manager of Yelhentye Nawu at APRA AMCOS, where he and his team supports initiatives that support and elevate Indigenous voices across Australia’s music sector.

Nathaniel has served as Head of Music at the Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts, where he established the ACPA Gospel Choir and directed numerous productions, and as a sessional teacher/lecturer at the University of Tasmania, University of Cincinnati, Griffith University, and the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music. He also served as the First Nations Engagement Lead at Flying Arts Alliance and as a grant assessor for multiple arts funding bodies nationwide.

An accomplished performer, Nathaniel has appeared at major events in Australia and internationally, including the Macy’s Jazz Festival in the United States, Dark MOFO, Festival of Voices, Brisbane Festival and others. A Yamaha-endorsed artist, he continues to perform and mentor emerging musicians.

As a Musical Director and band leader, Nathaniel has been involved in major theatre productions such as Hit Productions The Sapphires as well as leading a range of jazz, funk, and contemporary music ensembles throughout Australia.
He currently serves on several advisory and governance boards contributing to the growth and sustainability of Australia’s creative and cultural industries.
