Nikhil Deo graduated from the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University (QCGU) with a Bachelor of Music in 2022 – where he studied Viola under Graeme Jennings and Classical Voice under Mattias Lower.

In his time at the Conservatorium, Nikhil picked up a variety of skills from working as an usher and manager in Front of House to working in productions as an opera student, and performing as part of the QCGU orchestras, which gave him the skillset to work for Southern Cross Soloists (SXS) as the Marketing and Production Manager. In his short time in arts management, he has worked as the orchestra manager for Ensemble Q and Camerata – Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra, the Operations Assistant for Brisbane Music Festival, as well being the Concert Co-ordinator with Queensland Youth Orchestra (QYO) for the Chamber Ensemble program.

Before life as a producer, Nikhil performed with various orchestras including QYO, QCGU Young Conservatorium, Creative Generation, Redland Sinfonia, Queensland Symphony Orchestra (side-by side project) and many more. He has also performed with the Queensland Conservatorium Opera Chorus in productions of Street Scene (Weill), Iolanthe (Gilbert and Sullivan), and scenes from Carmen (Bizet), Magic Flute (Mozart) and La Boheme (Puccini).

Alongside working at SXS, Nikhil currently enjoys teaching as the Upper Strings Tutor at King’s Christian College, conducting the Queensland Harp Society’s Harp Ensemble and in his spare time, brushing up on his aviation knowledge and travelling!
